Contractor Readiness Training
The VMA has worked with Virginia property owners engaged in the management and oversight of facility projects with contractors to create the Virginia Local Users Council (VALUC). As part of the work of the VALUC, contractor safety standards and training programs aligned to those standards have been developed to meet the needs of owners with contractor employees working in both Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing areas of their facilities. All of these required courses are available in both English and Spanish. Registration for these training programs is set to begin September 30, 2011.
To register a group of employees by bulk registration, please contact Olivia Tullo directly at otullo@vamanufacturers.com, or to register as an individual, please click on the registration link at the top of this webpage. Industrial Energy Auditor Training
The Certified Industrial Energy Auditor (CIEA) program will train individuals to audit the business performance and operational excellence of their organization’s energy management team. In cases where no energy management team program exists, the auditor will expand the organization’s awareness of techniques, technologies and resources that will result in a reduction of energy demand, carbon footprint and costs.

“The goal of the corporation to reduce our energy demand by 10% is well underway because of the Industrial Energy Auditor training provided by the VMA. The Industrial Energy Auditor courses provided the skills and opportunity to learn where to start looking for energy savings, and the ability to identify where the largest impacts can be made. Several facilities have profited from the work of our team of VMA Certified Industrial Energy Auditors. After completing the program, each new project, change or equipment is scrutinized for energy efficiency. As a result of the preliminary audits that we have done, others have taken interest in learning and building on their knowledge base for eliminating waste and increasing energy efficiency. We hope to exceed our corporate goal, and learning the basics from this program has improved our chances of success."
– Ruth DeBrito, Corporate EMS Coordinator, Smithfield Foods, Inc.
