Women in Manufacturing (WiM) Awarded Community Giving Grant by DuPont

RICHMOND, VA – The Women in Manufacturing (WiM) Virginia Chapter, a VMA affiliate devoted to providing year-round support to women who have chosen a career in the manufacturing sector, was rewarded a $5,000 grant at the 2022 DuPont Community Giving Reception at the Chesterfield Technical Center on Tuesday, April 19th. After reviewing all the nominations submitted, 20 organizations were awarded nearly $130,000 in financial support through the DuPont Community Giving Program.

DuPont is committed to improving over 100 million lives through targeted social impact programs. At its Spruance site, the company is helping to achieve that commitment through its efforts in the local community. Each year, it partners with a select group of organizations that are aligned with its key focus areas of: local impact, diversity, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and opportunities for employee involvement.

According to DuPont Spruance Site Leader, David Ledesma, “We are excited to once again support and partner with a strong group of amazing organizations. The Richmond area has a long history of generosity and working to help the community. And I’m very proud to be part of a company like DuPont, and specifically Spruance, who has also been a strong part of the community for many years. Through the partnership with our DuPont employees, we look forward to the impact these organizations will have on our local community.”

WiM Virginia Chapter will invest the grant funds into its four pillars of programming: Mentoring, Professional and Youth Outreach, Professional Development, and Community Engagement. WiM Virginia provides thirty-five thousand dollars in scholarships annually to female leaders looking to continue their professional development journey and is the only WiM chapter to provide peer to peer mentoring opportunities to all members at no cost. 514 female leaders across the Commonwealth have access to WiM Virginia services.
