In December 2021, the Supreme Court of Virginia issued an order setting General Assembly and congressional maps for the next decade. The new drawn maps are significantly impacting incumbents, many of whom were paired (or even tripled) in a single district forcing them to move to another district, retire, or face off against a fellow legislator in a primary or general election. There will likely be significant shifts in seniority and representation, both in the Virginia congressional delegation and the Virginia General Assembly.
