Ted Narozny, Plant Manager of Lipton Tea in Suffolk, VA

Ted Narozny is the Lipton plant manager for Unilever, overseeing the day-to-day management of the largest tea manufacturing plant in the United States. Under his leadership, the Suffolk, Virginia-based plant recently became the first Unilever facility to achieve “zero-landfill” status – it sends no waste materials to landfills, instead processing it through robust recycling and composting programs and turning some of it into usable energy. He is also responsible for the management of Unilever’s tea facility in Montreal, Canada. Read Bio

Michael G. Dowd is Director of the Air Quality Division for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. In that position, Mr. Dowd oversees the air quality planning, permitting, compliance, monitoring and mobile source programs for the Commonwealth. Prior to becoming Air Director, Mr. Dowd served as DEQ’s Director of Enforcement and Air Enforcement Manager. Before joining DEQ, Mr. Dowd was an attorney in private practice with law firms in Richmond, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Columbus, Ohio. Ellen Gilinsky is Director of the Water Division at the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), where she oversees a diverse array of water programs including water permitting, monitoring and assessments; water supply planning and water withdrawals; groundwater permitting and assessment; wetlands permitting and assessment; biosolids and land application permitting; and wastewater grant and loan programs and operator training. Steve has over 36 years of environmental experience with EPA and Department of Defense contractors, consulting and industry. David W. Schnare, Esq. Ph.D. Dr. Schnare is a senior attorney with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance and President of Schnare & Associates, an administrative and environmental law appellate practice. He has served on the staff of the Senate Appropriates Committee and as the nation’s Senior Regulatory Economist with the U.S. Office of Advocacy for Small Business. Jeff Steers is currently the Director of the DEQ’s Waste Division, responsible for overseeing the solid and hazardous program, Superfund, VRP/Brownfields, groundwater and risk assessment programs and the Department’s tank and petroleum programs. Prior to this, Jeff was the Regional Director of DEQ’s Northern Regional Office. | Jim Taylor graduated from Virginia Tech in 1993 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He joined MWV in 1993 as a process engineer and quickly moved into the environmental group working on the mill's first Title V permit.
