VEEP Workshop

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will provide regulatory updates on a variety of critical issues for industrial businesses.

1:30 - 2:00 Water Division Director, Ms. Ellen Gilinsky, will provide the most up-to-date information on Chesapeake Bay TMDLs as well as water quality and supply updates.
2:00 - 2:30 Meet the new Director of the Waste Division, Mr. Jeff Steers,who will provide and update on RCRA Corrective Action, the Voluntary Remediation Program, Solid Waste Regulation and TRI
2:30 - 2:45 Break
2:45 - 4:45 Air Division Director, Mr. Mike Dowd, will provide updates on three state regulations, the revised Minor New Source Review Regulation and the proposed biomass and generator general permits. Information will also be provided regarding the EPA's Boiler MACT and Greenhouse Gas permitting.
5:00 - 6:30 Environmental Reception

Join the DEQ regional and headquarter staff, VMA members, and conference participants at the annual reception showcasing the conference sponsors and exhibitors. Special guests at the reception will be the industrial winners of the 2010 Governor's Environmental Excellence Awards, who will be honored during the festivities. Invited to make remarks is the Secretary of Natural Resources, Doug Domenech.

Post Conference Workshop: What is Industry's Responsibility for Helping the Bay

Reducing only point source nutrients will not be sufficient to clean-up the Chesapeake Bay. All sources should be required to participate in order to make a difference! Work with this panel to understand the basics of TMDLs, the precedent-setting regulations being issued by the EPA, and how the BMP funding programs could be a way for industrials to reduce their nutrient load on the bay, should they be included in the program.
