Cascades Inc. To Invest $275M To Open Pulp Production Facility in Virginia

The Richmond (VA) Times-Dispatch (7/11, Ridolphi) reports that Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) announced that “Cascades Inc. of Canada announced plans this week to invest $275 million to open the first pulp production facility in the United States” in a idled facility in Hanover County. According a statement from the company, “Cascades produces, converts and markets packaging and tissue products that are composed mainly of recycled fibres.” Gov. Northman is quoted on the deal, calling it “an investment of this magnitude and the addition of 140 quality 21st Century jobs is a major win for Hanover County and we welcome Cascades Inc. to Virginia. International companies continue to choose the Commonwealth as a gateway to the US marketplace due its strategic location, superior infrastructure and utilities.” Addressing the use of the former facility, Northam adds, “The location in Hanover County offers Cascades a turnkey location ready for equipment installation minimizing startup production time while putting an asset back in to use and will provide residents with paper mill manufacturing skill sets to re-employ in the industry.”  Read More >>
